1986: Madonna Steps Up To Her Throne With Her Album "True Blue"

30th Anniversary Of Madonna's Record Breaking Release Of "True Blue"

Madonna shows the world that she is no temporary Pop Princess with her third album "True Blue". As a true Queen would rule her reign, Madonna had a part in every aspect of building this Masterpiece. Having a helping hand in the song writing and production process, plus a very successful two years behind her, seemed to give Madonna a huge boost in confidence, sounding stronger than ever. Boasting an amazing three number one singles and another two in the top five, this album would go on to be the best selling album of the 80's by a female artist. To here more on this Queen's collection of keen selection, carry on.....

Barbra Streisand Celebrates The 50th Anniversary Of Two Of Her Most Outstanding Albums

The ever busy Barbra Streisand releases not one, but two albums this year! Not too surprising a fact considering she had consecutively released two albums a year for four years in a row by this point. She never runs short on material or performance either, you'd almost think she'd have sung it all by now with her resume, but she keeps the hits coming with new groundbreaking concepts. In March she starred in one of the first in color TV specials, turned album, "Color Me Barbra", followed by the French influenced  "Je m'appelle Barbra" in October. Patti LaBelle - Winner in You.png

Patti LaBelle releases "Winner In You" after a string of solo successes, and it is a winner! Not only does the album itself climb to the number one spot on the charts, it boasts two of Patti's highest charting singles, the internationally acclaimed Michael McDonald duet "On My Own", and the inspiring "Oh, People". The album would also see two more singles released, "Kiss Away The Pain" and "Something Special (Is Gonna Happen Tonight)", keeping a healthy heaping of Patti on the pile all year long! The album is a great mix of heart felt power ballads, and epic 80's flavored jams, please continue to hear some of my favorites!

1976: LaBelle Release Their Final Album "Chameleon"

LaBelle's 1976 Album "Chameleon" Celebrates It's 40th Anniversary! It's Their Last Album For The Next 30 Years!

Chameleon (Labelle album).jpg

Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash, otherwise known as "LaBelle", go out in style with this eight track album that would be their last full length album for the next 30 plus years. These girls have grown in many ways in the last decade since releasing their debut studio album "Over The Rainbow". Ten years ago the girls were crafting polished radio ready gems, and now they are giving us a unique blend of  funky Rock & Roll smothered in Gospel and Soul. The album spawned two minor hits in "Get You Somebody New" and "Isn't It A Shame". Isn't it a shame that these songs weren't huge successes, as they both are exploding with fiery passion, one that is unmatched by any other Girl Group. Please continue reading and allow me to share some of the other jaw dropping moments that "Chameleon" has to offer.

1966: Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles Album Over The Rainbow

Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles 1966 Album "Over The Rainbow" Celebrates It's 50th Anniversary!

Patti LaBelle gives us just a tiny taste of what's to come on the 1966 album "Over The Rainbow". The album is a mix of polished Girl Group Pop and "The Gospel According To Patti LaBelle".  Backed by The Bluebelles (soon to be Supreme Cindy Birdsong, and the extremely talented Nona Hendryx & Sarah Dash) Patti LaBelle belts her way through their first official studio album. The album contains the minor hits "All or Nothing" and "Ebb Tide", along with their signature take on the classic "Over the Rainbow". The rest of the album is made up mostly of sophisticated Soul covers of classic hits at the time, which makes this a very fun album to add to your collection, if you don't have it already! To hear some of my favorite tracks off the album, and a few more fun facts, please follow the link below.
